Apple Day at Appleton Roebuck School

On 19th November, we celebrated Apple Day, a commemoration to mark 100 years since pupils from the school sent barrels of apples to our brave boys serving overseas in the First World War.
Alongside a host of apple-themed activities and games for the children, it was wonderful to see so many members of our wider community, including parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours, coming into school to enjoy the apple crumble treats provided by our lovely cook, Mrs Thompson.
We also welcomed Jim Duffy from Red, White and Blue Day – the RAF Benevolent Fund and Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity – who talked to the children about their work, and we raised £102 for the charity by each child bringing in £1 for wearing red, white and blue on the day.
